TedHooglandbw1My journey in the Advertising and Graphics Arts Industry has spanned over 19 years. I began as a producer and copy writer at a small ad agency long before the digital age of communication. I wrote and produced TV and radio commercials for Buick and GMC dealer marketing groups throughout the mid west, splicing 1/4" tape by hand and lugging heavy VTR gear to commercial shoots.

In 1995 I relocated to the Detroit area and began working for a large printing company. I learned the world of print up close working in the bindery, off a cutter and learning sheet-fed printing. These skills allowed me to move into estimating and planning. This position gave me valuable knowledge in various paper stocks, building relationships with suppliers, and managing price estimates and project deadlines for clients.

After five years of working in a print shop I returned to the fast paced world of advertising as a print buyer. I worked directly with account teams and art departments delivering price estimates and managing budgets and timelines for clients such as Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid, Keebler, Glaxo Smithkline, Nestle and Clorox . I have produced brochures, sales kits, direct mail, in-store displays, signage, posters, labels, coupons and more. In my 10 years at Mars Advertising, I established many relationships with outside vendors throughout the United States and was promoted to manager of the print department, later became its director in 2007.

I left the agency in 2008 to pursue my degree in graphic and web design. I started my freelance business, Hoogland Creative, in 2010 with the goal of working with small business owners to develop websites and create branding and marketing strategies.
